2026 · The Carnival

The full 2026 campaign · eight films
The brief

Turn the biggest names in horror into short, shareable films that sell Halloween Horror Nights — on a theme-park schedule, and better every season.

The work

On-set VFX supervision for the shoots, then VFX and CG production with SOKRISPYMEDIA’s artists through final delivery.

The team

VFX artists, CG generalists and compositors, working alongside Universal’s creative team, director, DP, editor and colorist.

The result

Four seasons, from fixing a single shot to the event’s entire 2026 visual campaign: a CG carnival, seven announcement films and the broadcast spot.

How It Came Together

It started small. Universal’s team was shooting their own promos and needed a hand cleaning them up — a rig in frame, a piece of set that shouldn’t be there. We turned it around quickly and invisibly, and they came back with the next one.

By 2024 we were adding to the frame instead of taking things out. The announcement films for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, A Quiet Place, The Weeknd: Nightmare Trilogy and the Blumhouse Terror Tram each got their own VFX moment — like the frost that creeps across a face in the Ghostbusters film. In 2025 we did the same for the season commercial, “Live the Horror.”

In 2026 we built the campaign’s world. The event’s new centerpiece was a carnival tent hosting seven horror IPs, each with its own game. We created the tent and every game in CG, delivered seven announcement films — Sinners, Stranger Things 5, Hellraiser, Evil Dead Burn, Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness, Killer Klowns from Outer Space and the Terror Tram starring Art the Clown — and handled VFX on the main commercial.

Fan Fest Nights

Not everything is horror. For Universal Studios’ Fan Fest Nights we brought the same team to a very different brief: the 2025 campaign spot, “Really GO There.”
